Screenprints on Fabriano. In total these pieces have 27 separate colours and layers all applied by hand. All wrapped up ready to go the the Yorkshire Sculpture Park shop and Leeds Print Fair next month.

Very excited to have my work in the gorgeous shop ANTHROPOLOGIE!
I have the same print 'Entrance' for sale in my shop Little Print Press. £198

Saturday, 8 October 2016

Six in the series. All from small editions and all printed and made completely by hand. They all start off as drawings and my stencils are hand drawn too. I love the textural appearance and the combination of geometry and the drawn mark.
I worked out that I have hand applied 78 colours on all of these prints together!

'Graffiti Underground' from an edition of 30 (top on Fabriano) and 10 (bottom on Somerset Grey Velvet)
I love the colours in the new pieces, they just seemed to work when I put them together.
Both are available in my shop, click to be redirected. :)

My studio from two angles! I've been trying to sort it out recently and am struggling with lighting and layout. I love all of my old bits of furniture, but I could do with another plan chest and another table.....:(

'In Conversation II'
I really love how this piece turned out. I had so much success with the first 'In Conversation' print I made (edition sold out), that I wanted to expand the series. This is available in a very small edition run of 15 only.

New work in progress...

My latest 18 coloured screenprints! They are inspired by some graffiti I spotted in an underpass a few months ago. I couldn't decide which colour I like the most when I did some samples, so I made just three of the charcoal grey and brown (top right) one and more of the pink and orange one.
Both are available in my shop or contact me directly elawrenson@live.co.uk.

Paper size: 57 x 44cm,  Image size: 38 x 30cm
Original handmade eighteen colour screenprints on Fabriano Rosaspina 285gsm.
Signed, titled and dated in pencil at the bottom . Editions of 30 . Sold Unframed
Price £255

Sunday, 11 September 2016

I started work on the bottom left drawing, turning it into an edition of 15 screenprints.
This follows on from my recently exhibited piece 'In Conversation',
that recently sold out at the Royal Academy. Now for sale, click to shop.
The other three drawings are based on some graffiti I photographed a couple of weeks ago
in an underpass in Wales.
I really like the four images together, so I will be making all of them into prints
in the coming weeks/ months. That's the plan anyway!

Work in progress, 'Tenter Hill'. I'm planning on expanding my landscape series of prints with pencil. This is a drawing and collage which will be made into a small edition of screenprints. Things are so hectic at the moment, and summer holidays are coming up soon, I hope I manage to get into the studio to print....

Winning the New Light exhibition....and what's next.

I decided to enter the New Light Exhibition due to the fact that it was for Northern artists only. Being able to show work in the beautiful Bowes Museum, Mercer and Panter and Hall galleries made it very enticing! Usually all other competitions are based in London so it made a nice change.

I was pretty shocked to win the print-makers award as the standard of work was incredibly high. I enjoyed talking to Norman Ackroyd RA CBE about my work on the night of the prize giving, he was very complimentary which was a great confidence boost. I haven't had any feedback about my work since I was studying at the Royal College of Art back in the nineties, and for me, this made the exhibition. I try to enter at least two prestigious competitions a year as I believe being judged by the best artists and experts in the business is a great way to get noticed and move your profile just a little bit further forward.

Being offered the solo exhibition at The Zillah Bell Gallery will be a fantastic opportuntity to show my work to a different audience. They have a fantastic reputation and catalogue of great artists showing there. As well as my show 'Piecing the landscape', they exhibited and promoted my work at the Hepworth Print Fair last weekend and have asked me to be part of 'The Contemporary Printmakers' exhibition in May. I feel extremely honoured and privileged to be showing alongside Royal Academicians.

'Arches' screenprint in ten colours, finished yesterday! I'm so pleased with this print it was worth the seven hours of colour mixing it took to get it right! It's very subtle but very painterly too. The colours remind me of the seaside, sticks of rock and deck chairs.

This week I have been getting ready for an interview with Etsy. Home studio shots taking shape....

small printed drawings.

I've been making some new small printed drawings.
They work individually or in pairs or all together. They are all
hand drawn with pencils to start with and transferred into silkscreen
prints. I like to add transparency medium to give the prints lovely
textures.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm really looking forward to another year printmaking....
I will be starting the year thinking about my submissions for the RA summer exhibition, along with preparing for a solo show at the Zillah Bell Gallery.
I've got so many ideas bubbling away, I can't wait to make a start!
Inspiration from out and about......
